Courses and course notes

I have taught at every level from college algebra to topics courses in the McKay correspondence, and I like the graduate algebra sequence best — it is where the abstraction finally starts paying for itself.

Graduate courses

Graduate Algebra I and II, Homological Algebra, and Commutative Algebra, along with topics courses in Combinatorial Commutative Algebra, Maximal Cohen–Macaulay Modules, and The McKay Correspondence.

Elements of Modern Mathematics (for management students); Calculus I, II, and III; Introduction to Differential Equations; first and second courses in Linear Algebra; Linear Algebra with Applications; Introduction to Abstract Algebra; and the Senior Seminar in Mathematics.

Earlier

Before Syracuse I taught Calculus! (for science majors) at the University of Toronto, and at the University of Kansas taught Calculus I, Elementary Statistics, and an advanced topics graduate course on maximal Cohen–Macaulay modules. I began teaching as a graduate student at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln: intermediate algebra, trigonometry, precalculus with graphing calculators, calculus for management and social science, recitation sections for Calculus I, and MathExcel workshops for Calculus I and II.

Summer schools and lecture notes

I was one of the main lecturers at the 2005 Snowbird Summer School in Commutative Algebra, which became the book Twenty-Four Hours of Local Cohomology; my four lectures are on the talks page. In 2019 I gave a series of three lectures at the summer school on Cohen–Macaulay modules in representation theory in Bad Driburg, and a three-lecture minicourse at SIMCARA in São Carlos.

Recognition
